1. What are the advantages of Alumina Ceramic Substrate?

Alumina Ceramic Substrate

As an important electronic material, alumina Ceramic Substrate has many excellent properties, which makes it widely used in electronics, electricity, automobiles and other fields. Its main advantages are as follows:

  • High insulation performance: Alumina ceramics have extremely high resistivity, which can effectively prevent leakage and short circuit, and ensure the reliability of the circuit.
  • High temperature resistance: Alumina ceramics have a high melting point and can work stably for a long time in a high temperature environment, which is suitable for harsh working conditions.
  • Corrosion resistance: Alumina ceramics have good chemical stability, are not easily corroded by acids and alkalis, and extend their service life.
  • High mechanical strength: Alumina ceramics have high hardness and strength, are not easy to deform, and ensure product accuracy.
  • High thermal conductivity: Alumina ceramics have high thermal conductivity, which helps to dissipate heat and improve the reliability of electronic components.
  • Dimensional stability: Alumina ceramics have a low thermal expansion coefficient and good dimensional stability, which ensures the dimensional accuracy of the product under temperature changes.
  • Biocompatibility: Some alumina ceramics have good biocompatibility and can be used in medical devices.

2. How high a temperature can Alumina Ceramic Substrate withstand ?

Alumina Ceramic Substrates can withstand quite high temperatures, but how high they can withstand depends on the following factors:

  • Alumina purity: The higher the purity of alumina, the better its temperature resistance. Generally speaking, 99.5% pure Alumina ceramic substrates have the highest temperature resistance.
  • Substrate density: The higher the density, the better the temperature resistance.
  • Use environment: In addition to temperature, other factors in the use environment, such as thermal shock, corrosive media, etc., will also affect the temperature resistance of the substrate.

Generally speaking, alumina ceramic substrates can withstand high temperatures of around 1600°C, and can even reach higher temperatures under certain conditions. However, long-term use at high temperatures may lead to a decrease in substrate performance, such as reduced strength and dimensional changes.

Factors affecting the temperature resistance of alumina ceramic substrates:

  • Thermal shock: Rapid temperature changes can cause thermal stress in the substrate and easily crack.
  • Oxidizing atmosphere: In a high-temperature oxidizing atmosphere, alumina may undergo oxidation reactions, affecting its performance.
  • Mechanical stress: External forces can reduce the temperature resistance of the substrate.

3. What thickness options are available for Alumina Ceramic Substrate?

Selection of alumina ceramic substrate thickness:

  • 0.1mm-0.5mm: This thickness is very thin and is often used in electronic components that require high-frequency performance and miniaturization, such as high-frequency filters, microwave circuits, etc.
  • 0.5mm-1.0mm: This is a more common thickness and is suitable for most electronic products, such as power modules, sensors, etc.
  • 1.0mm-3.0mm: This thickness is thicker and has higher mechanical strength and heat resistance. It is often used in situations that need to withstand greater mechanical stress and high temperature, such as industrial furnaces, high-temperature electronic equipment, etc.
  • Above 3.0mm: Thicker substrates are mainly used for special applications, such as wear-resistant parts or parts that need to withstand extreme environments.
Main factors affecting thickness selection:

  • Mechanical strength: The greater the thickness, the higher the mechanical strength and the less likely it is to deform.
  • Thermal conductivity: The thinner the thickness, the better the thermal conductivity, which is conducive to heat dissipation.
  • Electrical properties: The thickness has little effect on electrical properties, but too thin a substrate may affect high-frequency performance.
  • Processing difficulty: The thinner the thickness, the greater the processing difficulty and the higher the cost.
  • Application requirements: Select the appropriate thickness based on the specific application requirements for mechanical strength, thermal conductivity, electrical properties, etc.
Alumina Ceramic Substrate

Alumina Ceramic Substrate is a common ceramic substrate. 96% Alumina Substrate: suitable for low-power electronic components, sensors, capacitors, micro relays, microwave components and other fields. 99% alumina substrate: suitable for high-power LEDs, high-voltage integrated circuits, high-temperature sensors, high-frequency electronic components and other fields. In order to obtain some complex custom designs and shapes in the industrial field, laser cutting is the most popular high-precision secondary processing method for alumina ceramic substrates, which is a more cost-effective manufacturing method than CNC machining.

Our advantages:

1. Different patterns can be customized according to customer requirements.
2. Laser cutting combined with CNC machining to obtain higher dimensional accuracy.
3. The maximum cutting size is 152 x 152mm, and the best accuracy is +/-0.02mm.
4. The minimum cutting aperture is 0.1mm, and the maximum cutting thickness is 1.5mm.
